Bayern Munich Chasing Roma's Juan
|
Experienced defender Juan faces an exit from Serie A side Roma at the end of the season as Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have reignited their interest in signing the defender, Bild reports. Bayern had initially set their sights on Manchester City's Jerome Boateng, but the Premier League side are reluctant to let go of the Germany international, prompting them to turn their attention elsewhere. The Bavarians were linked with a move for Juan in the January transfer window, but then head coach Louis van Gaal eventually decided against a move for the Brazilian centre-back. New man in charge Jupp Heynckes is a keen admirer of the 32-year-old centre-back, however, and could very well decide to make a move for the stopper in the upcoming weeks. The Brazilian's current contract in the Italian capital runs until the summer of 2013, but his future is in doubt following the recent takeover by American businessman Thomas DiBenedetto. Roma are expected to make several key signings this summer and they could well allow the defender to move on, with Bayern willing to pay up to €5 million for his services. |
